Mayer Secures Complete Defense Verdict in $2.5M Collin County Trucking Trial
Mayer secured a complete defense verdict following a two-day jury trial in Collin County, representing a motor carrier in a trucking case involving a minor sideswipe collision and disputed liability.
The plaintiff sought $2.5 million in damages, alleging significant injuries after claiming she was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the collision. Mayer challenged the factual basis of the claim, focusing on inconsistencies in the evidence regarding whether the plaintiff was present in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Key evidence showed that police and emergency medical services were not called to the scene, and early reports and related claims did not identify a passenger in the vehicle. Through cross-examination and trial presentation, Mayer highlighted the inconsistencies in the plaintiff’s account and the driver’s testimony.
After hearing the evidence, the jury returned a complete defense verdict. The jury found no liability against Mayer’s client and awarded no damages.
The result reflects Mayer’s focused trial strategy, thorough case preparation, and willingness to aggressively defend transportation clients when the evidence does not support the claim.
The trial was led by Adam Gallegos and Tracy Johnson, with support from Nelda Altland, Victoria Faz, and Sunja Smith.
