Veronica Nadine Mireles has twenty years of experience in civil litigation across a broad spectrum of practice areas and roles. Her practice focuses primarily on defending healthcare providers and facilities, including physicians, hospitals, long-term care providers, and other healthcare organizations, in medical malpractice and personal injury matters, as well as representing businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation, insurance claims, and governmental investigations.
In addition to defending clients in litigation, Veronica serves as a strategic counselor on legal and operational risk. She works with clients to identify and address potential exposure before it develops into litigation, considering legal, regulatory, operational, reputational, and policy implications together. Her work includes pre-suit risk analysis, policy and procedure review, training and education, legislative and regulatory strategy, public relations and communications planning, and coordination with organizational leadership and other advisors on complex or emerging issues. She advises healthcare clients on how changes in litigation, regulation, public policy, and market conditions may affect their organizations, workforce, and ability to provide care.
Veronica dives deep into the intricacies of complex issues in cases that are particularly expert-heavy and advises on the ever-changing landscape of how litigation in New Mexico may impact the practice of medicine and a client’s business interests. She approaches matters with an enterprise-level perspective, evaluating not only the defense of an individual claim, but also the broader implications for a client's operations, policies, reputation, regulatory environment, and long-term risk.
As a proud New Mexican with deep roots in the state, Veronica fights to help keep healthcare providers available to New Mexicans through her representation and supports her clients with their legal needs so they can help New Mexicans thrive, along with other entities and individuals that support patients in the southwest. Along with the defense of medical providers and facilities in New Mexico, Veronica works to create an environment within New Mexico, and collaborations across the country, which supports the interests of healthcare access.
Veronica earned her bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor with honors from the University of New Mexico. During law school, she externed for the Honorable James O. Browning of the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and studied international and European law at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, Spain.
In addition to her legal practice, Veronica serves on the Board of the New Mexico Hispanic Bar Association and on the Hispanic Conservation Leadership Council. Her leadership and community work reflect her broader commitment to strengthening institutions, expanding opportunity, and supporting the communities she serves.
