- Marcus J. Wilson, Sr. is an attorney with a diverse background in both criminal and civil litigation. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Marcus began his professional career with the Houston Police Department, where he served in patrol and later as a plainclothes officer in the Tactical Unit.
After leaving law enforcement in 2017, Marcus attended Louisiana State University A&M, where he earned his Juris Doctor. Upon graduation, he pursued a judicial clerkship in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he gained practical experience in courtroom proceedings and judicial analysis.
Marcus then returned to Houston to serve as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure, he tried multiple jury cases and handled numerous contested hearings, developing substantial courtroom and trial experience. In addition to his trial work, Marcus was heavily involved in the General Litigation Division, where he handled public information requests under the Texas Public Information Act and independently managed the Harris County fugitive docket.
Since joining Mayer, Marcus has handled a broad range of civil defense matters, including medical malpractice, dram shop liability, premises liability, and products liability cases. His practice also includes industrial accident and pipeline-related litigation involving complex safety and regulatory issues. He has also litigated products liability matters involving defective residential system installations. In addition, Marcus has successfully tried high-exposure commercial disputes, including matters involving trucking and event operations, and regularly handles dispositive motions and hearings as part of his practice.
Marcus brings a disciplined, trial-focused approach to his practice, drawing on his experience in law enforcement, prosecution, and civil defense to effectively advocate for his clients.
