Jake Ramsey is a commercial litigator and trial attorney at Mayer LLP’s Dallas office. Jake has successfully represented companies, large and small, in lawsuits involving business torts, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, non-compete agreements, breach of warranty, business divorces, receiverships, and shareholder oppression. Jake has also litigated oil and gas disputes, product liability actions, and personal injury claims.
Jake guides his clients through all facets of the litigation process, including pre-suit investigations, discovery management, liability/exposure analysis, and trial. For each case, Jake develops a plan to meet his client’s specific requirements. Jake has found that his experience with complex cases, including class actions and multi-district litigation, is particularly valuable for those clients who are facing an onslaught of lawsuits in different venues. Jake prides himself on working together with his clients and their general counsels to create a unified, winning strategy across multiple fronts and teams.
While Jake primarily works out of the firm’s Dallas office, his practice is nationwide. Jake is licensed in Texas and New York. He has litigated cases across the country, including Arkansas, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, and Wisconsin.
Outside of work, Jake enjoys spending time with his friends and family, reading a good Sci-Fi book, cheering on his Dallas Mavericks, and playing recreational sand volleyball.

Representative Experience
- Counsel in multi-district litigation in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
- Served as liaison counsel for plaintiffs in multi-district litigation in Texas state court.
- Part of national trial team for Fortune 200 company. I defended the company in multiple lawsuits across the country for fraud, breach of contract, and breach of warranty claims.
- Represented oil and gas company in litigation over the interpretation of where to measure production along pipeline for purpose of calculating royalty payments.
- Represented manufacturer in an adversary proceeding brought by bankruptcy trustee to set aside a pre-bankruptcy settlement agreement worth over $100,000,000.
- Represented multiple banks in receivership and foreclosure actions against defaulting debtors.
- Represented multiple property owners in premises liability actions.
- Obtained a defense jury verdict at trial in products liability case involving a plaintiff with catastrophic personal injuries allegedly due to his use of my client’s product.
- Obtained permanent injunction and damages for franchisor against ex-franchisee for theft of trade secrets and breach of non-compete agreement.
- Represented minority shareholders in suit to force a windup and dissolution of corporation.
- Represented heirs to vast real estate holdings in a contested partition action.
