Jonathan “Jon” Sterling brings significant experience in lower middle market mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other business transactions across many industries including energy, entertainment, logistics, financial services, and technology, with a particular focus on healthcare. Jon is also highly skilled in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements. Whether advising on equity buyouts, carve outs, joint ventures, corporate governance, management services arrangements, or other general business matters, Jon is known for his practical approach and ability to identify and mitigate legal risk.

In connection with his M&A work, Jon has regularly served as a trusted external general counsel to key clients. In this role, he works closely with employment, healthcare, and litigation teams to provide comprehensive legal support. His work is grounded in a deep understanding of business objectives and a commitment to client service. Colleagues and clients alike value his sound judgment and strategic counsel.

Jon earned his B.B.A. in Finance with a concentration in real estate from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was a Second Century Scholarship recipient and a member of the Phi Delta Phi honor society.

A recognized leader in his field, Jon has been selected by Thomson Reuters as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Texas for five consecutive years (2020–2024).

Jon is a member of the Dallas Bar Association. He enjoys golfing, volunteering, watching sports, and spending time with his friends and family.
